Start Here:

After an injury on the job, officer Riley "Red" MacIntyre leaves the city behind for middle-of-nowhere Woodrun, Montana. She expects her wonky psychic abilities to be useless, but her first day back to work, she’s investigating a brutal, animalistic murder. Her coworkers seem to know more than they’re letting on, the townsfolk lie about the strangest things, and everyone turns to her reclusive neighbor when they shouldn’t. When she uncovers Woodrun’s secrets, she’s left with more questions than answers.

How do you hunt a killer that’s not suppose to exist?

Hi! Strange Moon Rising has not yet been professionally edited. I anticipate changes over several rounds of editing before publishing, so the final product will be different that what’s posted here. I’m self publishing, which mean I retain full creative control, so the final product won’t be a complete revamp, but it will have changes based on multiple different editors, beta readers, and (your) alpha readers input. I understand if that’s a turn off. I get you might not want to read the finished product if you already know the basic plot. For those who would be interested in how the novel evolves, here’s some info you should know to decide if you want to spend your time on my writing:

You might want to avoid this serial if you dislike;

  • depictions of gore and violence

  • vulgar language

  • diverse characters

  • slight revisionist history

    • I’ve altered American law enforcement to be more of what it could be, not what it is, in it’s current state. The controlling idea of the story is justice prevails when trust triumphs over fear, and unfortunately, I feel that can’t be fully realized in a realistic contemporary setting, even if it is fantasy.

You might like this serial if you read in the genres;

  • urban fantasy

  • contemporary fantasy

  • police procedurals

  • murder mysteries

  • crime thrillers

  • supernatural suspense

You can expect;

  • witty banter

  • a hodgepodge of supernatural creatures running around under everyone’s noses

  • slow burn subplot romance with future mild open-door spice over a series-span (i.e. there's no spice in this novel).

  • no generative AI usage

If all that sounds like it’s right up your alley, head on over to the first chapter! Chapters post Fridays and will average around 1,100 words.
